Dress Code
Proper dance attire allows instructors to clearly see a dancer’s alignment, posture, and movement while helping students move safely and comfortably. Students are expected to arrive dressed appropriately for their class and ready to participate.
General Dress Code

Dancewear should be clean, comfortable, secure, and appropriate for movement.

Clothing should allow instructors to clearly see the dancer’s body alignment and technique.

Hair should be secured away from the face when appropriate for the class.

Jewelry and accessories that may interfere with movement or create a safety hazard should be removed.

Students should bring the appropriate dance shoes for their class and keep them in good condition.

No outdoor shoes should be worn on the dance floor.
Ballet
Students are expected to wear a fitted leotard and tights with appropriate ballet shoes. Hair should be neatly secured away from the face, preferably in a bun for students with longer hair.

Girls: HD DANCE Leotard, pink or skin-tone tights, and ballet shoes.

Boys: Fitted dance shirt or T-shirt, dance pants or tights, and ballet shoes.

Ballet skirts, sweaters, or warm-up clothing may be worn at the instructor’s discretion during warm-up.

Students should avoid oversized or loose clothing that prevents instructors from properly observing alignment and technique.
Dance Conditioning
Students should wear HD Dance leotards with pink or skin-tone tights, or black shorts. Fitted dancewear or athletic wear may be worn when appropriate for the class.

Students should wear appropriate footwear as directed by the instructor.

Students should bring water and be prepared for stretching, strengthening, flexibility, and dance-specific conditioning exercises.
Contemporary / Lyrical
Fitted dance-wear, leggings, or other clothing that allows instructors to observe alignment and movement. Bare feet or the appropriate class footwear may be required.
Jazz
Fitted dance-wear, leggings, or comfortable athletic/dance clothing with the appropriate jazz shoes.
Hip Hop
Comfortable athletic or streetwear-style clothing that allows unrestricted movement, with clean indoor sneakers or the footwear specified by the instructor.
Other Classes
Dress requirements may vary depending on the class, level, choreography, or instructor. Students should follow any additional dress-code instructions provided by their instructor.
Class Readiness
Students who arrive without appropriate attire or footwear may be asked to modify their clothing or observe class if their attire presents a safety concern or prevents the instructor from properly evaluating technique.
